Forge Global alternatives

Forge is one of the largest private-share marketplaces, but it isn't the only route — and its ~$100k direct-sale minimum rules a lot of people out. Here are the real alternatives and how to choose, explained by someone who isn't one of them.

Why look beyond Forge

Forge Global suits larger stakes in well-known names, but people look for alternatives over its high direct minimum (~$100k), seller fees (~2–5%), or simply to compare price and process. The good news: there are several, each with a different model.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Forge Global?
It depends on your stake. For smaller blocks, EquityZen's SPV model has much lower entry sizes than Forge's ~$100k direct minimum. For a transparent live price, Hiive's order book helps. And if your own company runs a tender offer, that's often the best-priced, lowest-friction route of all. There's no single best — it depends on your company, stake size and goals.
Is Forge Global the only way to sell private shares?
No. Alternatives include EquityZen, Hiive and Nasdaq Private Market, plus your company's own tender offer or an approved private buyer. Each has a different model, fee and minimum, and all require your company's approval to transfer. Compare them before assuming Forge is your only or best option.
Does PrivateTechShares sell shares or compete with Forge?
No. We're an independent education and tools service — not a broker, marketplace or platform. We help you understand what your shares are worth and how a sale works, for free, so you can choose a platform; we don't transact or take a cut.
