Bridge round

Also called: bridge financing, bridge

In one line

A smaller, interim raise — often via SAFEs or notes — to fund a company until its next priced round.

In plain English

A bridge 'bridges' the gap to the next big round, giving the company runway. It's usually quick and convertible, and can signal either prudence or difficulty raising a full round.

If you were explaining it to a 5-year-old

The club is low on coins, so it borrows a little to tide it over until the next proper fundraising.

Why it matters when you sell

Bridges add convertibles that dilute later and can hint at the company's health — useful context when deciding whether to sell.
