Single-trigger acceleration

Also called: single trigger acceleration

In one line

Acceleration that vests equity on a single event — typically the company's change of control — regardless of what happens to your job.

In plain English

With single-trigger, the acquisition alone vests your equity early. It's employee-friendly but rarer, since acquirers often dislike it.

Why it matters when you sell

If you have single-trigger acceleration, an acquisition hands you more vested equity immediately, changing the maths on selling beforehand.
