Double-trigger acceleration

Also called: double trigger acceleration

In one line

Acceleration that requires two events — usually a change of control plus you losing your job — before unvested equity vests early.

In plain English

The common, acquirer-friendly version: your equity accelerates only if the company is acquired and you're then terminated (or demoted). It protects you specifically against being pushed out after a deal.

If you were explaining it to a 5-year-old

You get all your remaining squares early only if two things happen: the club is sold AND you're asked to leave.

Why it matters when you sell

Whether and how your acceleration triggers affects how much you'd walk away with in an acquisition versus selling shares now.
