Series B

Also called: Series B round

In one line

A growth-stage round raised to scale a company that has proven its model after Series A.

In plain English

Series B funds expansion — more hiring, markets, product. Valuations and share prices usually step up, and employees joining here face less dilution ahead but higher strike prices.

If you were explaining it to a 5-year-old

A bigger batch of coins to help the club grow fast, now that it's clearly good at making toys.

Why it matters when you sell

The Series B price often sits close to a current fair reference for your shares, useful when estimating a secondary sale value.
