How we research & source

PrivateTechShares is an education and tools resource. Everything you read here — the company pages, the country guides, the calculators — is produced the same way: sourced, dated and checked. This page sets out exactly how, so you can trust the numbers and verify them yourself.

Why we publish this. For anything involving your money, you shouldn’t have to take a figure on faith. So we show where every number comes from, when it was last checked, and what we do when something changes.

1 · Every figure is sourced and dated

We tie each figure to a reputable, named source — company announcements, and reporting from outlets such as Reuters, Bloomberg, CNBC, the Financial Times, TechCrunch and Forbes, alongside data providers like Crunchbase and PitchBook. On our in-depth pages the source is shown inline, with the date the figure reflects. Where something is an estimate or a range rather than a hard number, we say so plainly.

2 · At least three reputable references on each in-depth company page

Our deeper company pages are cross-checked against at least three independent, reputable sources before we publish a status or a valuation. If the sources disagree, or we can’t confirm a fact, we leave it out rather than guess. We would rather be shorter and accurate than longer and misleading.

3 · Public or private — the listing is checked, not assumed

A company only appears on our pre-IPO and unicorn lists if multiple reputable sources confirm it is still private — not yet floated, and not acquired. If a company goes public or is bought, it comes off the list. A short, accurate list is worth more than a long one padded with companies you can already buy on the open market.

4 · Re-verified monthly

Private-company facts move — a new round, a tender offer, an IPO filing. Our in-depth pages are re-checked each month and carry the date they reflect. Figures can still change between updates, so each page tells you to confirm the current position before you rely on it.

5 · Education, not advice

Nothing here is investment, legal or tax advice, and we are not a broker, marketplace or intermediary — we don’t hold your shares, find you a buyer, or take a cut of any sale. We help you understand and prepare; the decisions, and the professional advice, stay with you. We show our sources precisely so you can take them to your own lawyer or accountant and check our working.

6 · What we don’t do

7 · Found something wrong? Tell us.

If a figure is out of date, or a company’s status has changed, email hello@privatetechshares.com and we’ll check and correct it. Corrections are part of the method, not an exception to it.

Who’s behind it. PrivateTechShares is operated by Asset and built from experience by a founder who spent years researching startup transactions. We’re a small, independent resource — which is exactly why we lean on named sources and a published method rather than asking you to take our word for it.
